For a consultation or a referral, write to us with a short description of the matter — the parties involved, what has happened, and what you are hoping to achieve. A few sentences are usually enough at this stage. We will revert on whether the chambers is able to assist, whether there is any conflict that would prevent us from acting, and how an engagement would proceed if we take the matter on.
Because the practice is compact and we accept work selectively, an early note helps us tell you quickly whether we are the right chambers for the matter or whether you would be better served by a referral elsewhere. If we do proceed, the scope of work and the basis of charging are agreed in writing before any substantive work begins.
Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information until an engagement is confirmed in writing. Material sent before that point is not protected by an advocate–client relationship, and sending it does not create one. For anything genuinely urgent it is best to telephone the chambers during working hours so the matter can be directed to the right person without delay.
